Linseed Overnight Oats with Matcha Yoghurt
This recipe is perfect for the diet of women over 50, as the oatmeal provides valuable fibre to aid digestion. Apples help to keep blood pressure in balance, also provide fibre and a natural sweetness. Linseed contains lignan, which can mimic the effect of oestrogen - this can help to compensate for the decline in oestrogen production with age. Flaxseed also provides healthy omega-3 fatty acids which, together with pecan nuts, can keep blood vessels intact. Milk and yoghurt provide valuable calcium, which counteracts bone loss and is important because absorption in the intestines is reduced with age. The need for protein increases with age, and dairy products such as yoghurt and milk can be used as a source to meet this need.
